Founded in 1858 as Lane’s Crossing, a supply outpost serving travelers crossing the Mojave Desert, Victorville received its current name in 1901. The city of more than 120,000 people is located along historic Route 66. Victorville was the site of a WWII army airfield that later served as George Air Force Base until the early 1990s and is now Southern California Logistics Airport. Victorville was the longtime site of the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum, though that facility moved in 2003. Victorville calls itself the “Key City” of the High Desert.
